For all who try — and keep on trying
It is so simple. It is so complicated. Was it before or after war that your children were born? It makes no difference. Each generation learns, and then repeats. We try again and again.

Sulam Yaakov (סולם יעקב, Hebrew: Jacob’s Ladder) refers to the ladder connecting earth and heaven that the biblical patriarch dreams about. Often a person is torn and anxious in their many attempts at climbing. The ladder becomes human effort itself. Yet in these repeated efforts a kind of rhyme-like rhythm appears: in circumstances, in the breathing of elements, in glitches.
We do not know what all of this means. We may not understand it for generations. And yet, not always directly, we arrive at what we long for, without fully knowing how it happened.
